Don't do something if you are just trying to avoid failure~
I have heard a lot of things about failure. The usual everyone fails, learn from your failures, and then when you don't succeed you fail. But hearing it this way and in this context hit me for some reason. Almost for everything in life I go in with the mindset of being successful but there comes a point when failure does cross my mind. The environment I find myself currently in is one where failure is at its all time high. It's easy to do it in school, personal life, or on the field without even meaning to because all it takes is one bad day.
Self-reflection is a skill in life. Some have it and some aren't mature to comprehend the process behind it.~
When I thought of key life, skills self reflection wasn't one of them until my professor had said it. I now consider it to be one. It takes a lot of guts to truly look at yourself and reflect. Thus only certain people can. I sat in my desk and wondered how deep was this reflection. If it was surface or soul or mind, then yes I had been mature enough to do it. But then it hit me that it's not only those three things but all the little things that play into those aspects as well. So I guess the question of are you mature enough is more of a feeling because to a certain extent it's our interpretation.
No more it's clear, more like papers
It's clear and it's it's clear paragraphs were what got me through high school. I remember when I would get assigned 1 or 1 1/2 pages in high school and was annoyed because most of the time it was three paragraphs. Well let's just say in college when I see a paper is only a 2 page paper I'm ecstatic.
Crutch free
I have been crutch free for a bit now and couldn't be happier. Not necessarily because it shows progress or stops people from starring but more so the fact that I'm gaining my independence back. Most of you know that I'm an independent and dependable person. Being on crutches makes dependent upon others and to a certain extent undependable physically. It's in the little things like opening a door, carrying your own food, or just getting somewhere that was humbling. They make me grateful for the people who I depended on, so thank you.
Teammate not cheerleader
Being sidelined for the season has been a different experience. I do see action during games and practice but not in the way you might think. In both instances I'm always trying to take in anything and everything from positioning to speed of play. During games I might get mistaken for a cheerleader by yelling: "go","run","good job", "let's go red", or "great save". But I'm not a cheerleader I am a teammate. I say, "man on", "turn", "show", "mark", "slide",and "pinch" to the players on the field. Now I don't know if they can hear me or if it even helps but I like to think that they can. Or after the game talking with them and having an open honest dialogue. My voice is the one thing I can contribute to the team minus pumping up the balls and shagging them. My voice allows me to be a cheerleader but I choose to be a teammate.

#lifewithAC
I don't have much down time but figured I would share and update what my life at college has been like so far. If you are reading this you probably already know my life is never boring or dull.
#lockedoutofroom
Within two hours of having my dorm keys I locked not only myself but roommate out of our room as well.
#walkingandtxting
I was headed to the dinning hall for dinner. I knew there was a door that lead to the dinning hall (Kman). I just assumed while walking and texting that the door up ahead was the door to Kman. Simultaneously to me pushing open the door did a blaring alarm sound. This caused me to look up from my phone. In front of me were a line of students just staring at me. Then I glanced at the the door to see that it's covered in 13 "Emergency EXIT Alarm will sound" signs. I freaked and pulled the door shut hoping the alarm would shut off...it didn't.
#campussafetyreport
Due to my emergency exit door alarm issue I made an appearance in the campus safety report the following week.
#icecoldshowers
One would think a cool shower during hot weather would feel great, WRONG. For the first 2 weeks of pre season the freezing cold 2 min. showers made me grateful for the lukewarm water and then eventually hot water that came.
#cheeseheadforlife
Almost everyone at NCC is from Illinois. When I say I'm from Wisconsin the first question people almost always ask has something to do with cheese.
#ballgirl
I came into preseason injured and still am. This made me become resident ball girl on the team. I am now a qualified ball girl but the first week was rough. I got a needle stuck in a ball and also broke a needle.
#allergictoice
I apparently iced to much during the first week of preseason. I would ice two times a day after completing my pt exercises. This lead to me having 3 reactions and now no ice bags for me.
#germanorfrench
My last two years of high school I took French. This term I am taking German. I was called on in class to say the alphabet and numbers 1-10. I made it perfectly through the German alphabet but then got to neuf (9 in French) when I realized 1-9 had been in French so naturally finished with zehn (10 in German) thankfully my prof chuckled.
#dontstareatclocks
I was staring at the clock in my German class trying to decide if I could put off going to the bathroom for 45min. Well I got caught staring so my professor made me go to the front of room and have a conversation with him. He also said he was going to take the clock down. I was praying I wouldn't mess up. I didn't mess up so I walked in the direction of my desk but passed it and out the door to use the bathroom. When I came back to the classroom the door was locked. I thought he had locked me out but wasn't positive so I knocked. No one came to the door. I waited for a minuet then knocked again. My professor opened the door and made me go back to the front of the class and have another conversation with him. As I was speaking with him I glanced over his shoulder to see if he did indeed take the clock down. He caught me once again and made me right then go and take it down.
#MacnCheese
I have become a master of cooking Mac 'n Cheese. My first time however could have been much more exciting if the kitchenette in our lounge would have had a smoke detector but it didn't so no worries. We also eat straight from the pot and have no shame. It's less to clean that way.
#spidercheck
Before I step foot in the shower I check for spiders now. My first two ice cold showers resulted in visits from some spiders. Yes, more than one spider during a single shower.
#skunksighting
I have seen more skunks at NCC than I have in my entire life. I am up to 6 skunks. It's a little unsettling to come across one while walking to a 6am practice. Not only do I hear the scurrying but also the smell staying with me all the way down the hill is too much for that hour of morning.
#crutchgang
The struggle is real in college but throw crutches into the mix and it's just brutal. Somedays my armpits hurt worse than my knee. Also to the students who help me out they are the MVPs.
#LACelevator
The elevator at LAC is thee slowest and smallest on campus. The first time I rode in it I freaked thinking I was stuck. The ride either up or down lasts roughly two minuets. Sometimes I question while standing in the elevator if the stairs would have been quicker.
#latenightsearlymornings
Monday nights seem to get longer and longer making Tuesday mornings rougher and rougher. For Tuesday's my alarm is set for 4:30AM. This gives me enough time to roll out of bed and crutch down to the AT room. This past Monday night my roommate and I had been awake for so long that the rational thing to do at midnight was to sing the SpongeBob theme song repeatedly while laying in bed.
